7) My teacher (complemented / complimented) me on my essay. She said it was the best thing she had read for a long time. 

TRADUÇÃO:

Minha professora elogiou a minha redação. Ela disse que foi a melhor coisa que  leu por muito tempo.

Complement pode ser um substantivo ou um verbo. Se duas coisas se complementam, significa que elas vão bem juntas; eles fazem um ao outro parecer melhor.

Exemplo:
Rice is the perfect complement to beans.
(O arroz é o complemento perfeito para o feijão.)

Compliment também pode ser um substantivo ou um verbo. Significa elogiar.

Exemplo:

You have beautiful eyes! he complimented her.
(Você tem olhos bonitos! ele a elogiou.)
