O adjetivo historic se refere a algo marcante ou notável que teve, tem ou terá importância histórica. 


Exemplo:
President Nixon made a historic visit to China in 1972.
(O Presidente Nixon fez uma visita histórica à China em 1972.)


O adjetivo historical  se refere a algo relativo à história, ou seja, algo que retrate os hábitos de uma determinada época. O relato em si pode ou não ter importância histórica.
